Yes you read that correctly and anyone who promotes low carb diets as the superior way to lose fat need to read this post.
Now that I have your attention
There are countless studies that show that this isn’t true.
There is countless information that shows that carbohydrate intake (from the right sources), are beneficial for your health and for fat loss.
A study I often refer to compared a low carb diet to a high carb diet. Macronutrient portions were different but the calories were the same (-30% deficit).
The results in fat loss found were that fat loss was almost exactly the same.
The conclusion that was drawn was that a low carb diet was not better than high carb diet and that a high carb was not better than low carb diet. That macronutrients and calories needed to be TAILORED to the individual.
Another study looked at having a higher portion of carbohydrates at night compared to more during the earlier parts of the day compared to an even distribution of carbohydrates throughout the day and their affect on fat loss.
The results showed that some lost fat with eating more carbohydrates at night. Some also lost fat with eating more carbohydrates during the earlier parts of the day. Some lost fat with an even distribution of carbohydrates throughout the entire day.
