Do you feel like you’re always working?
Do you feel like your energy levels are constantly low?
Do you feel like your stress levels are soaring?
Do you hate the fact that you can’t think clearly or be able to focus on the task at hand?
Have you ever considered that you need some downtime
Staying productive and keeping busy are two very different things. Usually, the ones who are productive don’t find themselves slaving over their work or constantly stressing about not having enough hours in the day.
I learnt this concept from one of my mentors and when I fully understood the message he was trying to give me, it changed my perspective. I soon realised that taking time out for me so that I can recharge, destress, unwind, focus and find happiness again meant that my productivity would go from getting only one or two things done per day, to getting everything done. More importantly, I was able to do it with laser focus.
Try it. Take some time for you; be it a couple of a hours, a whole day, or an entire weekend. Read, watch a movie, go for a walk, meditate. The necessity to look after yourself so that you can be more equiped for what life demands is not to be neglected.
However, I want to make one thing very clear; there needs to be a honesty policy that you hold yourself to as a form of accountability. Make sure that you are always honest with yourself regarding the time you take to relax and revive, and whether you’ve earned it.
